My daughter's main purpose in walking over was to throw her laundry in my washer. The dog was a bonus. Or maybe a punishment.
The two canines spent the larger part of three hours romping. They played a rousing game of hide and seek that involved Minnie tucking in behind my recliner and Gracie barking at her with her small-dog yips. Their carousing also involved Minnie using me as a launching pad when she jumped onto my chair and then back down onto Gracie.
They are great play pals because they are both gentle dogs and never nip, bite or get serious in their play. It exhausts me just to watch them. I know it exhausts them too because they both have to take occasional rests.
Gracie's gone home now and I suspect she's sleeping as solidly as Minnie is here on my couch. While the noise and motion can be overwhelming at times, I am glad Minnie has someone to play with. And I'm also glad her little friend can be sent away with the opening of the front door and the stern command of "Go home, Gracie!"
