Some of those kids are foster children or grandchildren, brought into a family by circumstance but adored nonetheless. Others are those we connect with by teaching them in Sunday School, or getting to know them through their friendship with our own kids. Or maybe we can to know them through Girl or Boy Scouts, by tutoring them one-on-one or teaching them to play the piano or violin.

So Happy Mother's Day to all those women who give hugs, wipe noses, bake cookies for bake sales, pass out drinks at ball practice, remind teenagers to hold the door for a lady ... well, you get the idea. We are the role models for the children in our lives. Let's make sure we're good ones!
